Sort of puts the typical fireworks display and barbecue to shame. If this brings neither a tear to your eye or causes a bit of a tingle to run up your spine you need to rethink what today is about.

Is Fox News the only network that thought this was news worthy? What a great ceremony and great day for us to be so fortunate to have those men and women to re-enlist in a damn war zone no less. Bravo!!!!

I just spent the day thinking of the nearly complete absence of faces burned off, severe brain damage and missing body parts of US soldiers that would have blessed us had we not listened to the biggest idiot(according to polls) we've ever accidentally elected president.

Granted, YMMV according to your opinion on progress vis-a-vis Iraqi self-governance in an optimistic time frame.

I have a morbid curiousity about that, and also why he feels drawn to arguing to the point of being banned. As I remember, he sort of posed as one of us, but never argued a true conservative stance.

Maybe his mission was simply to make us waste our time, an idiot savant of argument strategically placed here by the left for a while. Goodness knows I wasted too much of mine.

He wasn't a bad guy, really. He just thought he knew everything and would argue his point forever. I don't believe he was ever a conservative, at least, like you say, he never argued any particularly conservative points, but he argued with liberals as well.

Independence Day to me is very important, it is as important as Veterans Day. After I was discharged in 1964, I returned to my hometown of Quincy, Massachusetts. My first real job was with The General Electric Company. To my surprise, they had not hired a new employee for seven years. I later learned that the only reason they hired me was that I was a veteran. All the employees were either WWII or Korean veterans.

Therefore, these two days were honored and celebrated with dignity. These men knew the meaning of sacrifice and honor. The criticism and derogatory remarks I heard after my discharge were not apart of their patriotic commitment to America. If it were not for their understanding and support my life would not be what it is today. They suggested that every Veterans Day and every July 4th that I visit any local cemetery as they did and visit and a Veterans Grave. They felt that every grave was a National Treasure.

After leaving General Electric, I transferred to Cleveland, Ohio, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, Knoxville, TN, Detroit, MI and back to Atlanta, GA. I visited National Treasures in every city. So today I visited a National Treasure and I did the same thing I have been doing for the past 43 years, I cried.
